Bach Flower Remedies

My blog today is going to be about Bach Flowers.  I learnt about these remedies during my 2nd year acupuncture course.  I found them very interesting and started using them last month to see what effect they would have.  Before I tell you how that went, let me give you some information on what they are, what they do and the benefit of them.bach flowers

Bach flower’s go back many years.   They are remedies made from essence of plants.  They are used to help balance someone’s emotional state from a negative to positive. This can be used in all walks of life.  A few examples:  fear of flying to constantly making the same mistakes or even PMT.  When you purchase Bach flowers you will notice that there are so many, 38 to be exact!  This is because they are taken from many different plants.  Some remedies are in sync with your star sign and others help them according to what emotion you are going through.  I must admit prior to the course my mum knew more about them than I did, she used to give our dog Rescue Remedy when there was a thunder storm on to calm her down.  I found this quite funny and went along to the course thinking, what is this load of nonsense…but after two lectures I changed my mind!

Here are a few examples of what feelings can be helped with Bach flower remedies.

Fear of known things, Exhaustion, Shock, Always making the same mistakes, procrastination, bitterness, unable to let go, indecision between two options, being self centered and many more.

My blogs are normally around fitness etc and you are most probably wondering, why on earth am I blogging about Bach Flowers? The fitness industry deals with many different types of people.  Athlete’s trying to better themselves and they can’t because something is holding them back.  Someone with an injury and finding it hard to mentally adapt.  So even Bach Flowers can help both these situations.

I used them for a few reasons.  In my personal life I realised that I procrastinated a lot and definitely had a problem dealing with two options and disliked change.   Writing an email was a nightmare, asking my husband 20 times if he thought what I’ve wrote was okay….something needed to be done about this (not just for me but for him too as I think I drove him a bit potty with this)!!  So I made the remedy with the following Bach flowers:

Scleranthus, Hornbeam and Rock Rose.

Scleranthus: indecision between two options and therefore makes me able to make a decision and stick to itmy bach

Hornbeam, procrastination, helping to make clear decisions.

Rock Rose is not only my star sign flower but it can help with dislike of change and making me more adaptable.

The remedy is made from the essence of the flower and very slight drop of organic brandy to preserve.  I mixed them together in a small  30ml tincher with 2 drops from each and then added with water and a tsp of organic cider vinegar to preserve (which can be used instead of the organic brandy) I took them 4 drops 4 times a day. You take them until you feel you don’t need the need to anymore, so if you don’t reach for them, then you don’t require them!

I must admit, they had a calming effect on me and I took them for around two weeks before I stopped.  There was a shift in my way of thinking and I do believe that it was these that helped.  I am definitely going to use these again and would recommend to anyone else, whether from fear of flying,  or just needing something to help them move forward.  These are natural remedies and underestimated…..go on give it a go!
